Reggie and The Full Effect New Album 2007

“I have to record quickly so I can go back to New York City,” says Reggie and The Full Effect braintrust James Dewees. “I have a puppy who pees on my side of the bed when I’m not there!”

With that in mind, Dewees is currently plowing through the recording of the fifth Reggie record at a Los Angeles studio with Full Effect regulars Billy Johnson on drums and Steve Looker on guitar as well as Slipknot’s Paul Gray on bass (no, seriously); the whole thing is being overseen by producer Sean Beaven (Slayer, Marilyn Manson).

So, if you’re thinking the record might be a bit heavier than past efforts, you’d be right. “It’s in the direction of [2005’s Songs Not To Get Married To],” says Dewees. “There’s more of a Coalesce influence. I’ve sang about running away enough times; I’m not gonna count in 4/4 [time] anymore — I’m bored with it.”

Entering the Studio with a whopping 56 demos (”I had a long time to write,” he confesses), Dewees has whittled down the stockpile to 15 songs he thinks will make the cut; surprising absent are any songs by his alter egos, Fluxation and Common Demoninator. Reason being? “They’re both gonna have their own full-length records next year, too,” Dewees beams.

While he doesn’t have a definitive recording or release for those projects he’s confident the new Reggie disc, currently untitled, will be out in early 2007, followed by plenty of touring. “We submitted for Guns N’ Roses tour,” Dewees says, “but I don’t think we’ll get it.”
