The Faint - New album in 2007? Maybe.

Todd Fink and Joel Peterson give some insight on the upcoming “The Faint” album. Hopefully due out in 2007. There’s still no word which label they’re on.
Expect it: “As soon as Possible” (Label TBA)
Faint Frontman Todd Fink knows hard it is to try to describe music to people when the stuff hasn’t been recorded yet. So when AP asked him to choose two songs he’d flank his band’s new music between in a DJ set, he picked “You Make me Like Charity” by Swedish dark-techno unit the Knife and anything by quirky Berlin electro-punks Mediengruppe Telekommander, “But that’s still vague,” Fink says, laughing.
“[Our music] is always a series of pop experiments, some more pop than others. The sounds that we’re using [now] are more interesting and developed, but the songs themselves will be a bit more austere. Stripping the music down is probably a reaction from writing and touring behind “Wet From Birth”, which we all felt might have been a little too ornamental and too decorated.”
Bassist Joel Petersen will be overseeing the production of the Nebraska electro-rockers’ fifth studio album, as soon as the band finishes building a studio for his gear, in addition, they will road-test new material on a three-week tour commencing before the end of 2006. And maybe by then, they’ll figure out who’s going to release the album. “We’re not organized to license it to each individual country,” admits Fink. “But really, people worry about that stuff too much.” [JP]
